Hottest Neighborhoods in L.A.

Some Los Angeles neighborhoods are hotter than others. That certainly holds true in real estate.

While the overall Los Angeles housing market continues its steady, upward rise, naturally some neighborhoods are more popular than others among buyers. So The MLS stepped up to release this map (H/T Curbed LA) to show just which areas are now hot, and which are decidedly not.

The map displays where single-family home values have increased the most from the third quarter of 2015 to the third quarter of 2016. The hottest neighborhoods are determined by the increase in combined value of all homes sold - based on total sales, increased prices, or both.

On the Westside, five neighborhoods - Malibu Beach, Topanga, Brentwood, Venice and Westchester - all showed sizable increases of at least 30 percent year-over-year. At the same time, sales volume was relatively flat or dropped slightly in Pacific Palisades, Santa Monica, West LA, Marina del Rey and Palms/Mar Vista.

In just one year, buyers have clearly moved on from some previously hot neighborhoods.
